Youth Winter Retreat is here! ALL middle and high school students are invited to join us Friday, January 30-Sunday February 1 for a weekend away at Camp Buckner. It will be a weekend full of worship, teaching, and FUN together! We will be joined by the youth of Immanuel Anglican Church and Church of the Cross, two wonderful parishes in our Diocese located in the Austin area.

COST: $200 per student. Scholarship is available upon request.

  • What are we paying for?
    • $125 base camp fee per person.
    • $20 for camp shirt.
    • $35 for bus that takes us to and from Camp Buckner.
    • $20 to our scholarship fund.

We will gather at Christ Church on Friday at 5:30pm for dinner, and we will leave for Camp Buckner afterwards by 6:30pm (potentially earlier if possible). We will return to the church on Sunday at 12:30pm.

SPECIAL DISCOUNTS:

  • MULTIPLE CHILD DISCOUNT: If you have multiple children attending this retreat, you will receive $30 off per student registered. Use code SIBLINGS in registration.
  • BRING A FRIEND DISCOUNT: All friends you invite will get $80 off. This discount is just for friends, not for students bringing the friend(s). Use code FRIEND in registration.
  • ADDITIONAL NEED: If you need further assistance, we do not want finances to inhibit student participation. Please reach out to me directly ASAP at beau@christchurchofaustin.org. This will be need based, I will take everyone's need into account (with limited funds) and dispense all at one time (January 5th).

Safety Info:
(1) The Rule of 3’s.
Regardless of gender, there are never to be less than three people in a group at any time. During free time, pairing off is prohibited. This even applies for heading to meals, sessions, and games. All students need to have two additional people alongside them throughout the weekend. Though this is a “rule” it is also a blessing, for it encourages friendship and fellowship.
(2) Adult Leader Ratio: All Leaders are vetted (as all child volunteers are), but also further trained through MinistrySafe and our Diocesan Child Protection Policy. In other words, there are no strangers joining us on our retreat. Moreover, though there are no strangers, all leaders must be within seeing distance of another leader while with students at camp. A leader is not allowed to be alone with another student(s), but must have an additional leader with them. This enables cross-generational relationships to be possible in an age appropriate context.
(3) Strictly Enforced Curfew: The curfew at camp is 11pm. This means that all students must be inside their cabin at 11pm, not heading to their cabin at 11pm. Moreover, cabin leaders will do a roll call of their side of the cabin to ensure all students are inside, while two additional leaders will be outside doing a final sweep of the camp. Finally, Leaders will bunk near the exit, to ensure all students remain in cabins.
(4) Technology Ban: When camp starts, which is when students step check in upon arrival at Christ Church, phones will be taken. If you need to contact your student, you can contact me (number will be provided upon registration) or beau@christchurchofaustin.org. I will have my phone with me at all times throughout the entire weekend. Your student will receive their phones at the end of the retreat when we are arriving home. This helps ensure no inappropriate content is consumed electronically while under our care.

Deadline for registration is January 9th!

We hope you will be able to join us! Contact Beau with any questions.
